Tenant Spotlight: New Jersey Orators

The New Jersey Orators, Inc. is a 33-year old non-profit youth organization that teaches the art of public speaking, an appreciation for literature, reading and media arts literacy, college readiness, and life skills to youth from 7 to 18 years of age in preparation for college. In addition, New Jersey Orators hosts two educational conferences that focus on providing middle and high school students with information and strategies pertaining to obtaining a post-secondary education. The college readiness workshops focus on college and financial planning.

“New Jersey Orators was seeking a low cost and safe office space for a non-profit that could accommodate our training workshops. Also, the facility had to be ADA compliant. People Care Center for Nonprofits met these requirements. Because the People Care Center offers a shared conference room and workshop space, the New Jersey Orators is able to save funds for programming. The staff at the People Care Center is friendly and highly professional. Most important, we found the other tenants to be true partners in supporting each other’s services.”

Tenant Spotlight: Square Dancers

The Square Dancing community is a fun, active and social group of people who like to dance. Even if you have two left feet you can still participate. There are multiple levels in Square Dancing increasing in difficulty at each level. Square Dancing requires a lot of space so dances are held in the spacious PeopleCare Center Cafeteria.

“I have been pleased at how supportive and friendly PeopleCare has been in regards to our organization's needs. Our dancers often express how much they like dancing here. And several other Square Dancing organizations have also used the facility over the past years. It is a clean, well lit, comfortable and welcoming facility. PeopleCare is conveniently located and easily reached from many main roads. Thank you PeopleCare Center!”

Tenant Spotlight: NORWESCAP

Tenant Spotlight: NORWESCAP aims to improve the lives of individuals and families through a variety of services. One such program, WIC, is a public health program that is funded by the Federal Government to help prevent pre-term birth, low birth weight and to promote healthy development in children under the age of five. Through these efforts WIC saves millions of dollars in Medicaid costs. Norwescap was attracted to The PeopleCare Center by the location and reasonable rent.

“What keeps us at the PCC is the compassion for our clients the staff shows. The building maintenance and other assistance that they provide for our staff is much appreciated. PCC strives to continually improve the facility and keep the costs down for tenants.”

Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County - Tenant Spotlight

Long-term tenant, Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County (LVSC) is a small non-profit organization that provides English literacy instruction to adults who struggle to read, write, and communicate in English. Trained volunteers are the backbone of the organization. These amazing, kind, and dedicated individuals often report feeling as though they get more from the LVSC volunteer experience than they give. Clients continuously report that improving their English skills impacts every aspect of their lives: foundational literacy skills are essential to their ability to succeed in the workforce, support their children’s education, and engage in the local community.

“PeopleCare Center’s Affordable, controlled rent helps us to manage our budget. Having use of the conference room for meetings, and the large cafeteria for training sessions and events is fantastic. It’s also beneficial to be surrounded by other non-profit professionals; I have found it helpful to brainstorm and compare notes with other tenants who are facing similar challenges. We also love being in a building that was re-purposed. It has character and charm and is a great place to work.”

“We always have waiting list of students, so I encourage anyone who is looking for a rewarding volunteer experience to contact LVSC.”

The Coffeehouse Project Inc

Tenant Shoutout: The Coffeehouse Project Inc (CHP) provides group and individual music making opportunities for all kinds of people for the purpose of enhancing their lives and creating a greater sense of well-being. CHP uses the PeopleCare Center to rehearse with its musicians with special needs and likes the flexible scheduling, the large classroom spaces, and "groovy" theater.

“The biggest challenge for The Coffeehouse Project Inc (CHP) is publicity - letting people know about the organization so they can, hopefully, become involved in our various programs. We hope to be able to bring more programming to the PeopleCare Center in the future.”
