Tenant Spotlight: NORWESCAP aims to improve the lives of individuals and families through a variety of services. One such program, WIC, is a public health program that is funded by the Federal Government to help prevent pre-term birth, low birth weight and to promote healthy development in children under the age of five. Through these efforts WIC saves millions of dollars in Medicaid costs. Norwescap was attracted to The PeopleCare Center by the location and reasonable rent.

Long-term tenant, Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County (LVSC) is a small non-profit organization that provides English literacy instruction to adults who struggle to read, write, and communicate in English. Trained volunteers are the backbone of the organization. These amazing, kind, and dedicated individuals often report feeling as though they get more from the LVSC volunteer experience than they give. Clients continuously report that improving their English skills impacts every aspect of their lives: foundational literacy skills are essential to their ability to succeed in the workforce, support their children’s education, and engage in the local community.

“PeopleCare Center’s Affordable, controlled rent helps us to manage our budget. Having use of the conference room for meetings, and the large cafeteria for training sessions and events is fantastic. It’s also beneficial to be surrounded by other non-profit professionals; I have found it helpful to brainstorm and compare notes with other tenants who are facing similar challenges. We also love being in a building that was re-purposed. It has character and charm and is a great place to work.”

Tenant Shoutout: The Coffeehouse Project Inc (CHP) provides group and individual music making opportunities for all kinds of people for the purpose of enhancing their lives and creating a greater sense of well-being. CHP uses the PeopleCare Center to rehearse with its musicians with special needs and likes the flexible scheduling, the large classroom spaces, and "groovy" theater.

“The biggest challenge for The Coffeehouse Project Inc (CHP) is publicity - letting people know about the organization so they can, hopefully, become involved in our various programs. We hope to be able to bring more programming to the PeopleCare Center in the future.”

Jewish Family Service of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties is a non-profit, non-sectarian social service agency whose mission is to preserve and strengthen the quality of individual, family and community life based on Jewish values. We provide our services to a diverse socio-economic client population that includes individuals and families, young and old. We help to address problems, explore alternatives, develop new insights and find solutions. With an active board of trustees and good support from the general community JFS has been successful meeting the needs of the community since 1980. Annually JFS touches the lives of 2,000 individuals and families through one or more of our programs and services.

The environment at The PeopleCare Center is ideal for our Expanding Horizons program which features social learning groups for teens and tweens struggling to establish peer relationships. The PeopleCare Center is flexible, providing indoor and outdoor spaces for the fun activities we plan for these young people. And the location is very convenient for the families using our programs.

The Center for Great Expectations is the premier provider of trauma-informed services delivered to clients throughout New Jersey. Through our Continuum of Care - Residential Treatment, Outpatient treatment, Developmental Day Care, In-Home Treatment, and Supportive Housing - we serve homeless, pregnant, or parenting, adult women, men, and adolescents, and their children in an effort to overcome, and break, the destructive generational cycle of trauma, abuse, homelessness and addiction.
